Although or Though?

Both ‘although’ and ‘though’ can be used to mean ‘in spite of the fact that’.
Though the dog is only the size of a rabbit, it’s full-grown. 
Although you have the best qualifications, we have decided to give the job to someone else. 

To emphasise the contrast you can say ‘even though’, but you don’t say ‘even although’
Even though you have the best qualifications, we have decided to give the job to someone else.

‘Although’ and ‘though’ can mean ‘but it is true that’ to balance what has just been said.
His language skills are very good, although he could improve his maths.
Her behavior is generally good, though she does sometimes get impatient with other children.

Only ‘though’ is used to mean ‘however’ at the end of a sentence.
You could have got this job but it’s too late now, though.
